Asphalt pavement is used in a variety of different ways because of its durability, cost-effectiveness, simplicity of construction, and strength.Man conducting infrared asphalt repair

It is the material of choice for parking lots across the nation because asphalt can endure heavy loads and can last for many years when it’s properly maintained

In order to get a long life out of your asphalt parking lot, it is important to develop a pavement management plan. The asphalt should be routinely inspected and receive ongoing preventive maintenance.

Infrared Asphalt Repair

Infrared asphalt technology is an effective solution for critical repairs

This process blends hot-mix asphalt right in with the original and then compacts the area to create a seamless repair.

Infrared asphalt repair is an excellent option if you have noticed potholes, pavement heaving, uneven surfaces surrounding catch basins (a common problem after freeze-thaw cycles) or rough surfaces in drive lanes or parking stalls.

What to Expect from Infrared Asphalt Repair

The area in need of repair will be swept or blown clean to remove all loose aggregate, sand, and/or water.

The surface area will be heated to 325 degrees for 5-10 minutes, depending on the depth, season and existing aggregate.

Once the repair area has been heated, it will be raked to remove failed aggregate, and then a rejuvenator will be applied to restore lost oils due to oxidation.

Additional material will be applied to the area, while raking and grading it to the proper level.

Once the fresh material is placed, it will be compacted with a multi-ton vibratory roller and/or vibratory plate.

Infrared Benefits

Infrared rays allow for deep-penetration asphalt repair and reclaiming without causing burning, scaling, or separation of the asphalt from the aggregate.

The infrared asphalt repair process provides many other benefits:

Cost-Savings: You will save money, because the job can be completed with only a few raw materials.

Time-Savings: Only a few materials are required, so it can be completed faster than a traditional asphalt resurfacing.

Seamless Repairs: The patch bonds to the existing surface and doesn’t produce any joints, which prevents water from penetrating.

Fewer Traffic Interruptions: The patch can be driven on almost immediately.
